I should work on the spotty dress tonight, but since I hate leaving the francaise in its pinned state, it has to be that. Lots of work can be lost by just a few stray pins!

I draped everything that needs to be draped for the chocolate francaise and twilatee draped most of her pet-en-l'air today.

These are the most amazing dresses--flat rectangles pleat into dresses! So fun!

The tutorial will not be written tonight :)

The front doesn't look too impressive on the form, but I'm mostly excited about the back anyway :)

Tonight I prepared the fabrics for tomorrow. I decided to narrow the silk to period widths. This will actually make things easier, as I can add the shorter skirt pieces after I'm sure I know where the waist is. On the pet-en-l'airs, I cut the skirt piece according to the lining. I think today I might cut out the lining for the chocolate francaise. Why? I can handsew it! I'm totally not up to machine sewing today*, which is what everything else I have is. I think I am going to take two inches out of the center back to allow for lacing. Then very carefully pin it on my dressform to drape the silk. It's always fun to do ( Read more... )

I finished the petticoat. I think it's the longest I've taken on one.

I also pinned the corset together.

Nothing today though :)

The spots washed out of the petticoat and I cut the corset out.

Uh, not bad?

So much for the tons and tons of sewing. I still have time to do tons though :)
